Říčky Welcomed the Veterans. And There Was Plenty to See.

In late May 2026, the parking lot and grounds of Wellness Hotel Říčky hosted an event with few equals in the Eagle Mountains. Říčky held the first edition of the Spring Rally — a showcase of historic and vintage vehicles whose route led right through the heart of the region. A colorful collection of machines from different decades gathered in the hotel's parking lot.

A pre-war Aero, an elegant Škoda Felicia from the fifties, an iconic Mini Cooper, the American legend Ford Mustang, and a German classic, the Mercedes SL. Every vehicle has a story — and their owners are happy to tell it. The atmosphere was friendly and informal. Hotel guests and passers-by stopped to look, examine and take photos.

The rally organizers, visiting Říčky for the first time, left satisfied — satisfied enough to agree on a continuation. The event will return to Říčky two more times.

For the hotel, this was a first experience with this type of event. The result showed that the Eagle Mountains have plenty to offer vintage car enthusiasts too — quiet roads, beautiful scenery, and a base where you can properly rest after a drive. Road Stage 2026: Říčky as the Base for a Cycling Race

June 2026 brought a cycling event of a different kind to the Eagle Mountains. Road Stage Orlické hory — a road stage race that chose one of the most beautiful mountain regions in the Czech Republic for its route — and Wellness Hotel Říčky became its official accommodation partner.

Road Stage is not a race for recreational cyclists. It's a performance road race with a route running through the hills, passes and roads that the Eagle Mountains offer in abundance. Racers, support teams and organizers needed a base — and Říčky had plenty to offer. The hotel welcomed racers and their support crews, providing accommodation, meals and space to recover after demanding stages. For athletes who spent the day in the saddle, wellness, a swimming pool and good food are exactly what they need.

Říčky and cycling naturally go together. The hotel sits at a crossroads of cycling trails leading in every direction — to Šerlišský mlýn, through the Earth Gate, to Rokytnice, and across the Polish border. Anyone who comes here by bike won't stick to just one trail.

Road Stage 2026 showed that the region has the potential to host events at an even higher competitive level. Říčky wants to be part of it again next time.

What is it Like to Host a Film Crew?

This is something we don't experience every day. In fall 2023, we hosted the creators of the film Escape at Hotel Říčky, which premiered in March 2025. It was a unique experience for us that brought many unforgettable moments.

Behind the Scenes of Filming

Filming meant a completely unconventional schedule – meals were sometimes served at midnight or 3 AM, depending on the crew's work schedule. This regime must have been very demanding for the actors and the entire production team.

The crew would film for several days, then take a break for about two days before returning. Unfortunately, due to reservations for our regular guests, they often had to relocate, which created additional organizational challenges.

The weather wasn't cooperative either – it started snowing in the middle of filming, which complicated transportation to some locations. Getting the entire crew to a hay barn on a hill near the hotel was a real challenge due to mud and difficult terrain.

Despite all obstacles, there was a friendly atmosphere among the crew members. We developed personal relationships with many of them, and evening gatherings full of stories and laughter became a pleasant tradition.

Interesting Facts from the Filming

Did you know that director David Laňka asked us to help find a suitable apartment for the main character's family? He originally looked for an apartment here in Říčky, but eventually decided to film in an apartment in Kunčina Ves, where our hotel director grew up, because this apartment better matched the era in which the film is set.

The main character's parents were played by well-known actors Štěpán Kozub and Kristýna Kociánová.

Special Event

The preparations for filming were especially exceptional for director David Laňka and his wife Věra because their baby was born just one week before work began. They later celebrated this joyous event with a christening, for which they chose the church in Říčky. It was an honor for us to prepare the catering for this significant family celebration.

The Film Escape

We were lucky to see the film Escape before its official premiere – and we must say that we were absolutely thrilled!

New Defibrillator at Hotel Říčky

After consultation with the municipality of Říčky in the Orlické Mountains and emergency services, we have decided to invest in the safety of all visitors to our facility and have purchased an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

Why is an AED so important in a mountain resort?

In mountainous areas, professional medical assistance can be 20-30 minutes away. During sudden cardiac arrest, the first minutes are absolutely crucial, and quick intervention can mean the difference between life and death. That is why we decided to equip the facility with this life-saving device.

Where can you find the defibrillator?

The defibrillator is located at the entrance to Hotel Říčky with 24/7 continuous access and is available for the entire facility. The hotel staff has undergone professional training in its use. Additionally, the AED is equipped with voice guidance in Czech, which allows even an untrained person to use it in case of emergency.

We hope this device will never need to be used. However, if it is needed, it can save the most precious thing – a human life.
